Malwarebytes — Pattern of Value
Solved a real problem
Malwarebytes’ core constraint was credibility at scale: a best-in-class remediation tool that could not yet be trusted as a primary, always-on protection platform by enterprises or the market at large.
Made it repeatable
Converted Remediation into a cloud-first security platform: business-grade, multiple vertical architecture, unified protection primitives, and a modular SaaS core that expanded Malwarebytes from stand-alone or on-prem management into EDR, cloud security, and a Gartner-recognized platform — systematically displacing incumbent AV leaders at enterprise customers.
Taught the pattern
Cross-functional execution became the norm. Engineering, research, UX, QA, and release operations aligned around shared primitives, external validation (AV-TEST, AV-Comparatives, MITRE, OPSWAT), and clear ownership — allowing threat intelligence to translate into customer-ready products without constant coordination overhead.
Measured the compound
The platform sustained growth and velocity beyond the tenure: active users tripled, release cadence scaled from 12 to 68 per year, and revenue grew from ~$50M to ~$250M as a consequence of structural change — not one-time wins.
